My father was in Sighet, and there he met my mother, and I was born on June 24, 1923 [...] In '44, I started the Polytechnic; in the meantime, I learned to work, and I worked until '48, when I came to Resița. And here I met Mrs. Horvat. This was the event of my life, and I stayed here for 50 years. She is from Dej, and she came here as an engineer as well. She had finished the Polytechnic and was here, holding different positions in Reşita.
I am a hydrotechnician. In my time, Polytechnic was very serious in all fields. [...] And when I retired, there was a doctor, Ebstein Moise. You may have heard of him... well... He was the leader of the Jewish community of Reşita. He also appreciated me a lot. He went to Israel as well, and I replaced him. So I have been the president ever since. For 11 years, I have been the president of the Jewish Community of Reşita. Now, what can I say about this community? There are about 70 people who are Jewish and a total of 100 or so... 112 members in the community, because... what happened? Apart from two families, the rest are mixed marriages. Including me. My wife is Romanian from Dej, and we have two children. My daughter is in Bucharest, the boy lives in Toronto, Canada, and... that's it!
